I have always enjoyed playing board games.

Growing up we would have all night board game sessions with games like Risk or Monopoly.  As I grew up I graduated to more and more complex games.  But playing games was just one of too many hobbies.  After I graduated from college I began experimenting with woodworking.  At first it was small and simple stuff but a big project loomed ahead.  My favorite board game at the time was Agricola and I was never happy with how the expansive game fit on my kitchen table.  I set out, with my rudimentary woodworking skills, to solve this problem.  With the help of a good friend the Agricola Table was born.  A round table with an inset lazy-susan perfectly sized for a 5 player game of Agricola (great for family meals as well) was built.  This project jump started my love of woodworking and of building multi-purpose furniture.

Over the years I have built dozens of pieces, all with some "gimmick" that makes it "more than meets the eye".  In late 2017 I was laid off from my full time job.  While searching for new work I built several commissioned pieces to help make ends meet.  One of those items was a board game table with a removable topper.  Shortly after I received interest in another.  Then another.  My commissioned pieces started to become mostly board game tables.  In mid 2018 I started working full time again.  With many board game tables under my belt and a lot of confidence when I approached building them I decided to focus entirely on them as a side hustle.  I also brought my Mom on board as well to take the lead in staining and putting the final finishes on the tables.

At the end of 2022 I saw that my lead times were always months out. I had been building at night and on the weekends for quite a while and felt like it was time to take the business full time. With a lot of excitement and a little anxiety I resigned from my full time job to convert the side hustle into a full fledged small business.

After countless tables built and dozens of hours spent on each one it is still sometimes hard to let them go.  Many times all I want to do is set up a game and keep each one we build.  But I also love getting the feedback of how much the tables are enjoyed by those we build them for.  It is why I do it.
